AS Team Spotlight: Mary-Peyton Fisher

To join the Anahata Swimwear team an individual must share the values of our business: self-acceptance, philanthropy, integrity, women's empowerment, and fun. Get to know the ladies behind Anahata Swimwear in our AS Team Spotlight series and leave any questions for the team member in the comments section.

1. What is your name and your position with Anahata?

My name is Mary-Peyton Fisher. I am a senior at UNCW and I'm currently working as the marketing assistant intern for Anahata. I assist in event planning, content creation, social media posts, press releases and other marketing activities.

2. Where are you from?
I was born and raised in Rocky Mount, NC then moved to Wilmington four years ago to start school at the University of North Carolina Wilmington where I am studying business. Rocky Mount will always be home, but Wilmington has stolen my heart and it will be hard for me to ever leave this perfect beach town.

3. How did you get started with Anahata?
I was connected with Ahna, the founder of Anahata, through my mentor in the UNCW Cameron School of Business. I had been searching for an internship and was really excited to meet with Ahna and learn that AS was in need of a marketing intern. Joining the AS team in the midst of the start-up has been an extremely exciting and rewarding process.

4. What are some of your favorite things to do/hobbies?
I love traveling, drinking way too much iced coffee, going to the beach, and staying active by doing things like running, playing volleyball and playing Spikeball on the beach. I also love a good game night with family or friends.

5. What is one interesting/shocking/fun fact about yourself?
I can now say that I am one of the few people who have jumped out of a perfectly good airplane, 10,000 feet off the ground. It was one of the most awesome things I have experienced in my life. If you ever have the opportunity to go skydiving, do it.

Free falling from 10,000 feet up!

6. Who do you look up to?
My mom is someone in my life that I have always looked up to. She has always been my number one supporter and encourager. She is the most giving person I know and always puts the needs of others before her own.

7. What is your guilty pleasure food?
Ice cream or pizza for sure. I am a sucker for an Oreo and M&M milkshake, preferably from Cookout.

8. What is your ideal way to relax and unwind?
There is nothing better than laying out on a beach with my toes in the and a cold drink in my hand, but I can also enjoy a comfy night in watching a movie just about as much.

9. What is your favorite thing about Anahata?
I love Anahata's mission of empowering and encouraging women to be proud and bold in who they are. Women are put down and forced to try to be something they are not all too often in today's society and I love that AS opposes this by celebrating every woman's individuality.
